SOUTH AFRICA Safari? Yes, good idea!! / Safari? Sim, boa ideia!!

ENGLISH - What to do in the end of a very intense work week abroad? I was asking myself this question in a very nice resort close to Johannesburg in South Africa when a receptionist from the hotel apparently read my thoughts and gave me a solution: "wouldn't you be interested in a 1 hour safari?" It would be my first safari and I didn't have to think twice. It sounded perfect and it really was.

In South Africa there are a lot of modalities of safari tours. This unique experience offers an opportunity to see wild animals in their natural habitat and believe me - it is completely different than a traditional zoo - much better! In my case, I had the opportunity to see giraffes, elands, zebras, springboks, ostriches and as a bonus I feed the impalas.

The one hour safari tour costed me 6 dollars. Yes, very good deal for something I will remember forever. It was a short tour and without the big five*: elephant, lion, bufalo, leopard and rhinoceros but this experience made me wish for more. Sometimes, it is nice not to see it all when you travel. If something is left behind it is a sign that you have to get back to that country, that city, that mountain or, in my case to other safari tours. I still do not know when this is going to happen but I really want to repeat a safari tour again.

*Big five is a reference to the most difficult animals in Africa to hunt

PORTUGUÊS - O que fazer no fim de uma semana intensa de trabalho no exterior? Eu estava me fazendo esta pergunta em um resort agradável perto de Johanesburgo, na África do Sul quando a recepcionista do hotel aparentemente leu meus pensamentos e me deu a solução: "você não estaria interessada em 1 hora de safári?" Seria meu primeiro safári e eu não pensei duas vezes. Me pareceu perfeito e realmente foi.

Na África do Sul há muitas modalidades de safáris. Esta experiência única oferece a oportunidade de ver animais selvagens no seu habitat natural e acredite - é completamente diferente de um zoológico tradicional - muito melhor! No meu caso eu tive a oportunidade de ver girafas, antílopes, zebras, gazelas, avestruzes e como um bônus alimentei os impalas.

Esta 1 hora de safári me custou 6 dólares. Sim, foi um ótimo negócio para algo que eu lembrarei para sempre. Foi um pequeno tour e sem os big five*: elefante, leão, búfalo, leopardo e rinoceronte mas esta experiência me fez querer mais. Algumas vezes é bom não ver tudo o que é possível ser visto quando você viaja. Se algo fica sem ser conhecido é um sinal que você deve voltar aquele país, aquela cidade, aquela montanha ou, no meu caso a outros safáris. Eu ainda não sei quando isto acontecerá, mas eu realmente quero repetir um safari novamente.
