ENGLISH - Cancun is a great surprise. The Yucatán Peninsula is vibrant and full of people from all over the world. Food is fresh and original with many secret family recipes and there are soft white sand beaches everywhere.
Besides a long list of nice attractions one is very special: Chichén Itzá. Some books explain that the Mayan empire lasted from 250 AD to 900 AD. There is no explanation of how or why this civilization collapsed but in 2012 some people started to believe that the Maya calendar could predicting the apocalypse. As we all know the world didn't end and Chichén Itzá is still one of the most spectacular archeological sites in Mexico.
It is perfect for a day trip. The idea is drive from Cancun or take a tour and spend the hole day enjoying this unique experience while walking around the vestiges of this fascinating ancient city. Since 1988 Chichén Itzá is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and in 2007 was selected as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
PORTUGUÊS - Cancun é uma grande surpresa. A Península de Yucatán é vibrante e cheia de gente do mundo inteiro. A comida é fresca e original com muitas receitas secretas de família e há praias de areia branca e macia em toda a parte.
Além de uma longa lista de boas atrações uma é muito especial: Chichén Itzá. Alguns livros explicam que o Império Maya durou de 250 DC a 900 DC. Não há explicação de como ou porquê esta civilização entrou em colapso mas em 2012 algumas pessoas começaram a acreditar que o calendário Maya poderia prever o apocalipse. Como todos sabemos o mundo não acabou e Chichén Itzá ainda é um dos mais espetaculares sítios arqueológicos do México.
É perfeito para um dia de passeio. A ideia é dirigir a partir de Cancun ou fazer um tour para passar o dia inteiro aproveitando esta experiência única enquanto caminha pelos vestígios desta antiga cidade fascinante. Desde 1988 Chichén Itzá é um patrimônio histórico da UNESCO e em 2007 foi selecionado como uma das Novas Sete Maravilhas do Mundo.
