BRASIL - Exploring the "old chico" / Explorando o "velho chico"

ENGLISH - São Francisco River, also known as "old chico" originates in Minas Gerais and reach the Atlantic Ocean between the states of Alagoas and Sergipe, in Brazil. If you are in Maceio (Alagoas) or in Aracaju (Sergipe) don't miss the opportunity to see and live this place for one day.

Besides the conventional tours that normally include a bus from Maceio (169 km) or from Aracaju (164 km) and the boat trip with lunch or snack included the other option is to drive to Penedo (Alagoas) or Brejo Grande (Sergipe) and pay for a small boat trip from one of the local fishermen.

That was the way my husband and I chose to live this adventure. Only us, our guide and the "Old Chico" for almost one hour admiring the beauty of the river, the dunes, the trees and the birds along the way. In the end we undesrtood that the main attraction of this destination was the peace nature always brings. This is what a tour to the point where São Francisco River meets the ocean can offer to you - a collection of good moments relaxing and enjoying this one day experience.

Esta foi a maneira escolhida por mim e pelo meu marido para viver esta aventura. Apenas nós dois, nosso guia e o "Velho Chico" por quase uma hora admirando a beleza do rio, as dunas, as árvores e os pássaros pelo caminho. No final nós entendemos que a maior atração deste destino foi a paz que a natureza sempre traz.
