Despite of being one of the most popular festivities of the United States, the famous “trick-or-treating” can be celebrated anywhere in the world. Alike Brazil, Egyptians borrowed from the United States the habit of Halloween, a celebration that happens annually mostly in the international hotels and american schools around the country. As a curiosity: even though pumpkins (one of Halloween’s symbols) are not commonly found in the Northern Africa’s cuisine, during Halloween it is possible to see many types of the squash in the main supermarkets.

Halloween é uma celebração que tem origens cristãs e é dedicado ao mortos como forma de respeito. Ganhou forte reputação na América do Norte no final do século 18 com a imigração dos Irlandeses (católicos e também de origem Celta). Apesar de ter se tornado uma das mais importantes festas nos Estados Unidos, o popular “doces ou travessuras" pode ser atualmente comemorado em qualquer lugar do mundo. Esse ano, o passiontravel fruit comemora o Halloween no Egito. Assim como no Brasil, Egípcios sofreram influência norte americana na celebração do Halloween que acontece anualmente na capital do Cairo em hotéis internacionais ou escolas americanas. Como curiosidade, a abóbora (símbolo do halloween) não é comum na cozinha do Norte da África mas durante o halloween os supermercados do Cairo oferecem diversos tipos do fruto.
